NB: This swim has been cancelled, accorxing to a message on the event's website. It blames "climatic conditions". We're told that water in the lake, Copeton Waters, is at 12 per cent and that that's not enough to run the swim. This is hearsay. We've heard nothing from the organisers. What's not hearsay is the cancellation... Click here... But awgies say they'll be back in 2020.

Copeton Freshwater Swim - Cancelled for 2019

Four distances in this unique event on the NSW Northern Tablelands - The Swim with Altitude! - 5km, 2.5km, 1km, 500m.

Organisers say: "On the waters of the beautiful Copeton Dam, 40km from Inverell in Northern NSW. Come and join us for the highest open water swim in NSW".

What last season's swimmers said...

"Loved swimming out towards the wall and over that deep water. Thanks to Yamba SLSC for their support – they were always visible and their presence was reassuring."

Peter Hancock (600m, 5km)

"Really enjoyed it, much to my surprise! Will be back next year."

Emma Maddock (5km)

"I am used to swimming in the ocean and I thought it would be colder, but the temperature was quite pleasant."

Jo King (600m)

We're told the fish are biting, too (but not swimmers).
